Description: one credit course that focuses on how to operate a digital camera including design and photo composition

Units of Study: History of Photography, Camera Designs, Camera Operation, Exposure, Composition, Styles, Accessories, Careers, Editing, Publishing
Objectives/Outcomes: The student will:
- Develop skills to properly use a camera to create proper exposures.
- Develop skills to use the art of photography to create, recreate or capture a story using this medium.
- Demonstrate skills using computers, cameras and other photographic gear and software to reach their desired artistic level.
Grades: Finals will count as 20% of class grade. Daily work, tests, quizzes and projects will be constitute the remaining 80%

Computer usage: Your student is expected to abide by the Tuscaloosa County School’s computer usage agreement. Any student caught misusing the equipment and software will be referred to the administration, appropriate action will be taken. Your student will be responsible to pay for any financial loss incurred. NOTE: Facebook, videos, music, any social media website, and YouTube are not to be used except for approved class activities.

Student Responsibilities
- Each student at all times will follow all Tuscaloosa County Board Policies, as signed by student and parents.
- Each student at all times will follow the 3 R’s. Respectful, Resourceful and Responsible.
- Each student at all times will follow the directions immediately.
- Each student upon taking their seat before the bell rings will complete the day’s Starter.
- Each student will raise their hand and wait till the teacher recognizes he/she for their question or comment.
- Each student every day will enter the classroom and directly go to their assigned seat. No lingering in the hall, near the door or around the classroom.
- Each student, at all times, will refrain from physically or verbally distracting others, which includes not tapping, rapping, singing, dancing, rocking, squeaking and other things not listed.
- Each student will properly title each assignment (name, date, assignment) the absence of such may result in a zero.
- Each assignment not turned in will result in a zero. If a student has an excused absence they will be allowed two days per missed day to make up the work. Students are responsible for attaining that work.
- Each day an assignment is late 20 points will be deducted.
- Students must keep room clean of trash.
- Participation is required. Participation involves following directions, completing assignments and following class and school rules at all times. Failure to do so will result in an in class punishment which could be any of the following: writing long, boring and tedious sentences or cleaning the classroom.
- If a student fails to write their assigned sentences pertaining to their failure to behave they will be given a referral to the office. Students have one week to comply.
- Each student will be given a hall passes that may be used four times. New passes will be given each nine weeks.
- Each student will only wear appropriate clothing. Furthermore, each student will wear clothing appropriately. (No sagging, no low cut shirts, etc.)
- Students will not be allowed to eat, drink or possess any food or liquid in the computer area.
