William Christian

William Christian is in his fourth year of teaching as the Associate Band Director of Hillcrest High School. He teaches the Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble and assists with the Wind Ensemble and "Pride of Patriot Parkway." 

Mr. Christian grew up in Hoover, AL and is a proud alumnus of Hoover High School. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Instrumental Music Education, where he served the CNAfME chapter as Vice President. He has also performed euphonium with the Alabama Wind Ensemble, Huxford Symphony Orchestra, and Alabama Symphonic Band, while also having played French horn and percussion in the Alabama Concert Band. His marching expertise comes from his membership in the Million Dollar Band in which he was named section leader, as well as serving as a marching tech at several band camps in the greater Birmingham area. Mr. Christian finished his Master of Arts in Music Education at the University of Alabama in May 2020. During his graduate studies he spent his time teaching college courses on wind instruments, general music, band conducting, and music education. He also assisted assigned professors with many undergraduate classes and was a school clinical supervisor. Mr. Christian is thankful for the enrichment he received under the tutelage of many of his professors, including Dr. Kenneth Ozzello, Dr. Carl Hancock, Mr. Randall Coleman, Dr. Jeremy Crawford, and Dr. Demondrae Thurman. 

Mr. Christian is an active member of the Alabama Music Education Association and the Alabama Bandmasters Association, and has spent much of his time observing and learning from great teachers around the nation; he's even been to several schools in Texas and Georgia! Mr. Christian actively attends multiple notable music education conferences around the country such as Midwest, TMEA, and AMEA. Mr. Christian also performs with the Alabama Winds to keep his performance experience relevant and fresh. He has performed at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago and the Western International Clinic in Seattle. In his free time, Mr. Christian loves to play video games, watch sports, and workout.
