My name is Zach Higdon and I am excited to be a fourth grade teacher at Walker Elementary. My wife, Amanda, and I make our home in Northport where I grew up. I graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in History and then went back to get my Master's degree in elementary education. My wife and I have been married 9 years and have started our family. We have a son , Elijah and a daughter, Allison, as well as two dogs, Sadie and Reese, and two cats, Nala and Simba.
I love football season and pull for the Alabama Crimson Tide, the New Orleans Saints, and the New England Patriots. I also love reading, particularly children's books. Some of my favorites are the Beyonders series, the Fablehaven series, Harry Potter, The Ranger's Apprentice and the Percy Jackson books. I hope to share that love of reading with my students this year and for them to become avid readers forever afterward.
