Hello! I'm the Gifted Specialist at Walker Elementary, and I'm responsible for teaching the students in the GATE program as well as handling referrals for gifted services.  GATE stands for Gifted and Talented Education. 

I also coach the Walker Robotics Team, along with Mrs. Bynum and Mr. Higdon. We enjoy fostering a love for robotics here at Walker.

I've been a teacher with the Tuscaloosa County School system for thirteen years. I live in Northport with my husband, Devin, and three daughters, Mary, Claire and Sarah. I received my Bachelors degree in Elementary General and Special Education and my Masters degree in Gifted Education from the University of Alabama, Roll Tide! My family and I are active members of Church of the Highlands. 

I serve as the Gifted Specialist at both Walker Elementary, Westwood Elementary and Sipsey Valley Middle School! I am scheduled at Walker on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday afternoon and Friday!  You can contact me anytime via email!

2nd Grade Child Find: All students in 2nd grade undergo a screening for gifted services.  Additional data is then collected for students who show possible gifted aptitudes. These students will be referred for gifted services.

Parents and/or teachers can request a gifted referral for a child six or older at any time.
