Algebra II with Statistics
Syllabus
2023-24
What is Algebra II with Statistics ?
Algebra II with Statistics is a newly-designed course which builds on the students’ experiences in previous mathematics coursework. It is the third of three required courses, and it is to be taken following the successful completion of Geometry with Data Analysis and either Algebra I with Probability or the middle school accelerated sequence. It is the culmination of the three years of required mathematics content and sets the stage for continued study of topics specific to the student’s interests and plans beyond high school.
(2019 Alabama Course of Study: Mathematics).

Attendance and Make-up Work
Students with unexcused tardies will not be allowed to make up work missed at the beginning of class, so please encourage students to be on time. If students are absent, it is their responsibility to find out what they missed and to make it up. Students will have one calendar week to make up work they missed when absent. After that week has passed, the grade will remain a zero. Work that was due on the day of the students’ absence is due on the day of their return.
Grades
Grades are weighted in such a way that summative grades (tests and quizzes) are the most points. Formative grades, which include homework, notes, and class participation, will range from ten points and higher depending on work involved. Grades can be accessed from Powerschool. Please contact me with any questions.
All assignments will count toward the final grade. These include bell work, class work, homework, study guides, quizzes, tests, semester finals, and projects.
Homework Policy and Procedure
· It is important to complete all assignments and be present during all class time.
· Homework will be graded every class. It is checked for completion and then discussed for understanding.

· Questions and problems for tests and quizzes will come from homework/class work discussions.
