All students can learn, some of us just need to be taught differently from the traditional lecture style of teaching.
I have been teaching special education since 2003, first in New York for 10 years, and now in Alabama since my move here in 2013. I am dual certified in NY to teach elementary education K-6 as well as special education. In Alabama I am certified to teach high school special education.
I have had several degrees, one from Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), another from Manhattanville College where I also received my Masters Degree in Special Education. I have also had many careers and tell my students what you begin with in your working career doesn't necessarily mean that you have to stick with it forever. As we grow we change, develop new interests and passions, let them guide you to something you will love to do.
It took me a while to get to teaching and found this passion after I had children of my own. I love teaching this population, who are the kindest, nicest students ever, and they work so hard. I am so proud of all of them.
