More TCSS Schools to Begin Offering No-Charge Meals for All Students

  • January 5, 2024

Beginning Monday, January 8, 2024, all students at the schools listed below will begin receiving school breakfast and lunch each day, at no charge to families. There is no need to complete a meal benefits application. All students at these schools are now eligible for no-charge meals.

Schools Receiving No-Charge Meals Beginning January 8:

    Big Sandy Elementary

    Brookwood Middle

    Duncanville Middle

    Echols Middle

    Faucett-Vestavia Elementary

    Hillcrest High

    Hillcrest Middle

    Lake View Elementary

    Sipsey Valley High

    Sipsey Valley Middle

Due to a change in USDA policy, the schools listed above now qualify under the Community Eligibility Provision, a federal program that provides no-charge meals to schools that meet certain economic requirements. Faculty, staff, and visitors at these schools must still pay for meals.

Students at these schools who have an outstanding meal balance from Friday, January 5, 2024 and earlier must still pay that balance. The no-charge meals do not take effect until Monday, January 8.

The full list of TCSS schools now receiving no-charge meals is listed here. If your student’s school is not listed at this link, their school is not covered under the Community Eligibility Provision. Students at schools not covered by the Community Eligibility Provision should complete the Meal Benefits Application to see if they qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
