Course Description
Biology is a required, inquiry-based course focused on providing all high school students with foundational life science content about patterns, processes, and interactions among living organisms. Students use prior and new knowledge to build conceptual understandings based on evidence from their own and others’ investigations. The standards provide a depth of conceptual understanding to adequately prepare them for college, career, and citizenship with an appropriate level of scientific literacy. In this course, students will be introduced to blended learning. Blended learning is a mix of technology and face-to-face instruction. It combines brick-and-mortar classroom learning with online learning, and students have some control over the time, pace, and place of their learning. This type of instruction creates an opportunity for students to move from learners to leaders and provide opportunities that empower students to take more control and drive their own learning.
