Holt High School

My name is Melissa Steele (Missi). I have been teaching at Holt High School for 6 years, AND I have only been teaching for 6 Years. Before that I was a PARA at Hillcrest Middle School while I obtained my teaching certification. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 1987 from Southwest Texas, and my Masters in Special Education K-12 in 2017 from the University of West Alabama. I am currently working on my Ed.S in collaborative special education.

I have always wanted to be a teacher, so at 50, I went back to school to obtain my teaching certification. After subbing in all grades and working as a PARA, I fell in love with special education, and that is where I am at Holt.

I am a single mother of a smart, talented, beautiful daughter. She is currently enrolled as a musical theatre major at Viterbo University in Wisconsin. I love to read and hang out with my cats.

I look forward to working with your kids and you as we get them ready for life after high school.

This is my 5th year at Holt HS. I love our Ironman Family!

I graduated from SWTSU in Texas with a Business Degree in management and marketing. After 20 plus years in the business world, I decided toreturn to school to become a teacher. Teaching has always been my passion, and I am so thankful that I returned to school and earned and my Master's degree in Education from UWA.

I am the proud mother of a daughter who is a senior.
