My name is Shelly H. Cole and I am a Special Education Resource Teacher at Maxwell Elementary. I started at Maxwell in 2003 as a preschool teacher. I did that for several years until they downsized the preschools. That is when I became the Special Education Resource teacher for grades K-2.
I graduated from the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE) with a degree in Early Childhood Special Education. I have always wanted to be a teacher, thanks to some wonderful teachers that taught me throughout the years. I am married to my wonderful husband Jason, and we have the absolute most precious baby girl named Isabella "Izzy" Drew Cole. She will be six in December and started Kindergarten at "The Max" this year. She is the love of our lives and she keeps us busy, busy, busy all the time!!!
When I am not teaching, or working in my classroom, I enjoy watching every single Alabama football game and tailgating with friends!! I also enjoy spending time on the water in our boat with my family and friends. My hobbies include singing, any type of games (board, cards), camping, reading, zumba, organizing, reading, movies, and spending time with my family.
I am a Christian, and I owe everything to God who has blessed me beyond measure. I thank him everyday for my health, family, friends, and for my wonderful job at Maxwell working with these precious children.
There is a saying that I have often come across that has always stuck with me; "I don't teach for the income, I teach for the outcome". There is nothing more rewarding than watching the "light bulb" go off when a child has finally got it, and knowing that I had something to do with that.
I am looking forward to another wonderful year at "The Max" with wonderful co-workers, a wonderful principal who goes above and beyond for these children and teachers, wonderful parents, and a wonderful community.I am so honored and proud to be a part of the Maxwell Team!!
See ya at "The Max",
Shelly H. Cole
