    Bio

I am proud to say that I have been teaching AWESOME 4th graders here at Maxwell since 1980! This is my 40th year of teaching, and I absolutely love it!  My favorite subject is science, but I also enjoy math and reading.  I am married to a wonderful man who is a Nurse Manager at Arbor Woods in Reform, AL.  My daughter, Rachel, attends the University of Alabama. She is currently working on a speech therapy degree. Hopefully, she will graduate in December.  My son, Noah, served in Army Intelligence at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas for four years. He has moved back to Tuscaloosa to start a new chapter in his life. My husband and I also sponsor a child in Uganda named Job through Compassion International. I have 3 dogs and 1 western hognose snake.  Draco, my snake, visits Maxwell every Thursday or Friday.  He is fourteen years old. I've had him since he was six weeks old.  I attend Alberta Baptist Church.  I live in Northport.  My house was built in 1825, and it was initially a dog-trot log cabin.  It is one of the oldest homes in Northport. It has been in my family since that time.  I enjoy reading mysteries, listening to K-LOVE, gardening, planting flowers, walking at a nearby park, taking short trips to the Smoky Mountains or to the beach, and making improvements in my home. I absolutely love Alabama Softball!!!!!  Check out all the Bama collectibles in my classroom! Roll Tide! We go to all home games, and we love traveling to many away games.  I am the Chairperson for Membership for the BAMA Softball Walk-off Club, and I am a member of the Alabama Softball Board. My favorite foods are boiled shrimp, fresh Chilton County peaches, blackberry cobbler, and chocolate. Even though I’ve taught 39 years, I always strive to improve my teaching strategies and become the best teacher that I can possibly be for my FANTASTIC fourth graders.
