Growing up, I never thought that I would be a teacher. My ideal career was "stay at home mom" and I planned to do just that. However, God had other plans for me and I am SO thankful that He has given me the opportunity to serve as a teacher. I am proud to be starting my 20th year of teaching, and the 17th year here at TCHS! I love my students and I believe that I am truly blessed to be able to share music with them each day. The poem below sums up how I feel about being a music educator.
Why do I teach music?
NOT because I expect you to major in music
NOT because I expect you play or sing all your life
NOT so you can relax and have fun
BUT
so you will be human
so you will recognize beauty
so you will be sensitive
so you will be closer to an Infinite beyond this world
so you will have something to cling to
so you will have more love, more compassion,
more gentleness, more good... in short more life.
Of what value will it be to make a prosperous living unless you know how to live?Author Unknown
