Ms. Mary Elizabeth Towns

Hello!  My name is Mary Elizabeth Towns!  This is my fifth year teaching and my fourth year at Tuscaloosa County High!  I am so excited to be back at County High working with your students.

I’m originally from Oneonta, Alabama.  I graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor’s degree in high school education with a concentration in general social sciences in April 2019.  I graduated from UAB with a Master’s degree in high school education in August 2020. I am currently a student at the University of Alabama earning an educational specialist degree in social sciences.

In my free time, I read quite a bit. I read lots of genres, but I tend to focus on historical topics or romance.  I can also be found watching a new show on Netflix or Disney.  I love music, and I have played an instrument my entire life.  I sing in the choir at my church as well.  I am an only child, so I spend quite a bit of time with my large extended family.

I currently teach dual enrollment classes through Shelton State Community college, AP government and politics, AP macroeconomics, advanced government, and advanced economics at TCHS.  I also serve as an SGA advisor.  I am on the planning committees for homecoming and prom.

I look forward to working with each of you and getting to know each of you! I’m excited about this school year, and I'm excited about being at Tuscaloosa Country High School! Go Wildcats!!
