My Family

  • Hi! My name is Kristin Perkins. I am the ARI Local Reading Specialist at Flatwoods. Many of you know me from being a Kindergarten, 1st grade, and after school teacher here at Flatwoods. This year is my 14th year of teaching and my 14th year at Flatwoods! I have taught Kindergarten for 9 years, 1st grade for 4 years, and I am in my 1st year as the Reading Specialist. I LOVE this sweet little school and the kiddos so much!!

    I live here in Northport with my husband Matt, son Austin, and dog Moose. I am originally a native of Walker County but moved here 16 years ago to attend the University. I graduated from the University of Alabama in 2008 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I then obtained my Masters Degree from the University of West Alabama in 2018 in Library Media. I will soon be working on my Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership at UWA as well. When I am not at school, I enjoy spoiling my dog, spending time with my family, the beach,  Alabama football, and many other things.
