Flatwoods Elementary School

Hi!  My name is Amy Barksdale and I am a fifth grade teacher at Flatwoods Elementary.  This will be my second year teaching at Flatwoods but my seventeenth year of teaching in all!  I taught the 3rd grade for 4 years, 4th grade for 11 years and now starting my second year teaching 5th:) . I love the 5th grade and all of the exploring, learning and fun we get to share.  

Born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, I am a product of the Tuscaloosa County School System.  I graduated from Hillcrest High School.  I attended college at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!!) and received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2004.  I continued my education and received a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of West Alabama. I am married to Brian Barksdale and have two sons, Tyler and Brylan.  Tyler is 21 years old and will be graduating from college soon.  Brylan is in the 6th grade.  We have two dogs, Jagger (a lazy hound) and Rosco (a super hyper Jack Russell Terrier).  I love to read, shop, watch football and travel.  I have a goal of visiting all 50 states!!  

We are going to learn so many great things this year and I am looking forward to every minute of it!!
