Welcome to Pre-K!
My name is Lindsey Holemon and I am so excited to be teaching pre-k for my fifth year!
Education:
I graduated from The University of Alabama in 2006. During my senior year, I volunteered at a local Elementary school, and decided the classroom is where I belonged. I started at The University of West Alabama Summer of 2007, and received my Master's in Elementary Education in 2009.
Experience:
I have been blessed to work with many different teachers throughout the years. I started by volunteering with an after-school program at a local school. In 2008, I got to work with Elizabeth Myrick (2nd grade at TPS) for a semester. After graduation, I took a long-term sub position at TPS in a second grade classroom. I finished out the 2009-2010 school year at Vance Elementary. The next year, I taught 2nd grade at Brookwood Elementary. I took a few years off to be with my daughter, then taught at a local alternative school from 2013-2015. In August 2015, I went back to primary grades and haven't left since! I transferred from Taylorville Primary School to Lake View Elementary in 2018 to be closer to home.
Bio:
I grew up in Decatur, Alabama as an only child. I graduated high school in 2002 and moved to Tuscaloosa to go to college. I fully expected I would return to my home in 4 years :). Instead, I fell in love with my apartment neighbor (a Brookwood native) and have called Tuscaloosa home ever since. John and I got married in 2006. We have one daughter (Ellie Kathryn) and 2 cats (Jinxy and Fluffy) and a Goldendoodle (Matilda). We are very involved in our church (Big Hurricane Baptist) where I am the director of our Vacation Bible School. I love cats, Alabama Football, cooking, and being outside.
