    Brooke Mason

    Duncanville MS Director of Bands

    A native of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Brooke Mason began teaching at Duncanville Middle School in 2021. Ms. Mason previously taught at Sipsey Valley Middle and High School from 2016- 2019. Between her time at Sipsey Valley and Duncanville, Ms. Mason earned her Masters degree in Music Education from the University of Alabama. While at UA, she worked with the Million Dollar Band, and taught classes such as Teaching Instrumental Music, Teaching Brass Methods, and Basics in Music. Ms. Mason has presented research at the Alabama Music Educators Association Conference, the Georgia Music Educators Association Conference, and the NAfME Music Research and Teacher Education Conference.
    Ms. Mason is excited to be a part of the Duncanville Middle School team and looks forward to working with these great students!

  • Sam Becker

    Hillcrest Middle School Director of Bands

    Sam Becker is the band director at Hillcrest Middle School. Originally from Huntsville, Alabama, Mr. Becker graduated from Grissom High School in 2017 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Auburn University in 2021. While at Auburn, he served as the Mellophone section leader, freshman advisor for the AUMB, and mentor for United Sound. He performed with the Symphonic Winds, AUMB, pep band, and horn studio. Mr. Becker professional affiliations include AMEA, NAfME, and Kappa Kappa Psi. Most recently Mr. Becker was awarded the Nick’s Kids Foundation’s Teacher of Excellence. 

     

    Meghan Miller

    Ms. Miller holds both her BA (2016) and M.Ed. (2018) in Music Education from Auburn University. While at Auburn, she studied clarinet under the direction of Dr. David Odom, performed with the Auburn University Symphonic Winds and the Auburn Community Orchestra as the principal clarinetist, and served as the clarinet section leader of the Auburn University Marching Band for two years. She also performed with the Alabama Intercollegiate Band in 2013 and 2015 under the direction of Colonel John R. Bourgeois and Dr. John R. Locke, respectively, at the Alabama Music Educators Association Conference.

    While pursuing her Master's Degree, Ms. Miller served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant with the Auburn University Bands. During this time, she studied conducting with Dr. Corey Spurlin and Dr. Rick Good and had the opportunity to work with numerous ensembles at the University.

    Ms. Miller's professional affiliations include membership with the Alabama Music Educators Association, the National Bandmaster's Association, the National Association for Music Education, Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Service Sorority, Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Service Fraternity, and Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.
