Welcome to 6th grade at Duncanville Middle School! I am very excited to be your science teacher this school year (2021-2022)! I love my career as a lifelong learner. We will have a great time engaging in the Earth Science curriculum where you will be challenged and where you will develop a passion for learning science! Albert Einstein once said, "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow". The important thing is not to stop questioning." During your time in science, you will be actively engaged, collaborating in groups, conducting experiments, research, and doing many hands-on learning activities. This will be my seventh year teaching 6th grade science and I personally have developed a deep passion for learning all about Earth Science. One very important expectation I ask from each of you is to apply/use what you learn in our class in your daily lives. Let me introduce myself to you!

My name is Wes Chapman (Mr. Chapman).  I am starting my 16th year of awakening the ever so curious minds of students. This is my 8th year teaching at Duncanville Middle School and I am having so much fun sharing my desire for teaching with each student who enters my classroom. Here is a brief history of how I arrived to where I am today. I graduated from the University of Alabama in 2005 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. After I graduated I taught third grade at Cottondale Elementary for five years. While teaching at Cottondale, I earned Master's in Special Education. I graduated with my Master's Degree from the University of Alabama in 2009.

In 2006, I married my beautiful bride, Rachel. She is a Speech-Language Pathologist in Tuscaloosa City Schools. We have two children; Aisley (11 years old) and Thomas (9 years old). Aisley is in 6th grade and Thomas is in 4th grade at Maxwell Elementary.

My goal is to help each student strive to be a leader at school, at home, and in the community. I strongly believe that every student can learn, achieve greatness, inspire others, and be a leader.
