Tuscaloosa County School System

The new Holt High School opened its doors to students on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. The new school is located at 301 44th Court NE. It replaces the former Holt High School, which was built in 1944.

The new school sits on a campus of approximately 62 acres, with a total building area of 111,678 sq. ft., and a capacity of approximately 500 students. Facilities include 20 classrooms, two science labs, choral and band rooms, gymnasium, media center, cafetorium, career and technology center, administrative and counseling suites, and more.

Elements of the school’s design are drawn from the history of the Holt community. The exposed steel beams throughout the school represent Holt’s tie to the steel industry. The flooring of the main hall features a river design, as a representation of the Black Warrior River. Windows are made of purple glass, reflecting Holt High’s school colors.
