• My name is Laura Barnes. I live in West Blocton with my husband Josh, my 15 year old daughter Kaylyn, and my 6 year old son Channing. We also have our cats Jack and Mavis and our wennie dog-Bamaer. I absolutely love wennie dogs-they are sooo cute! Josh and I have been married for 21 years and we are a ROLL TIDE family! Go BAMA!

    I graduated from the Univeristy of Montevallo in December 2002. I became a  National Board Certified Teacher in 2008. I have been teaching at Vance since 2003, which makes this school year my 16th at Vance Elementary. I have taught 2nd grade for 4 years, 3rd grade for 6 years, 1st grade for 5 years and I am returning to 1st Grade this year.  I absolutely love teaching at Vance and am very excited to be teaching 1st Grade again this year!

    I spend my spare time with my family watching movies, playing The Wii, going swimming and camping, reading, and looking for new ideas and things to try in my classroom.  I also enjoy shopping with my daughter and sister.
