Mrs. Beth Ramey
In 1988, I transferred to the University of Alabama from a junior college near my hometown of Haleyville. I fell in love with this area and never left! I met my husband, John while at UA and we married shortly after graduation. We have two children who are now grown. Mandy is married and has given us our first grandchild, Elijah. She teaches Pre-K just like her mom. Matthew just got married (and she is a teacher as well!) and is the youth pastor at a local church. While they were young, I taught four year olds at a couple of day care centers and also worked as a para-educator in both Tuscaloosa City and County Schools.
In 2001, I took a position at Myrtlewood Elementary School teaching first grade. I love this community and wouldn't want to be anywhere else! Although my house is in Northport, my heart is in Fosters! At Myrtlewood I have taught first grade, kindergarten, and Pre-K. Pre-K is by far my favorite to teach. Early Childhood Education is where the foundation for a child's education start. It is important that students have the best experience they can in those early years.
Seven years ago, we started our first Pre-K classroom at Myrtlewood Elementary. I'm so proud to be a part of educating students at Myrtlewood in their first year of school! Go Cubs!
