Hello!

My family

  • I am so excited to be teaching third grade at Englewood Elementary. I can't wait to meet my new class family!

    A little about me, I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Educaiton in 2016. I grew up in Illinois, where I met my husband, Simon Bortz. We were both in 7th grade and became instant best friends. Together we have traveled the world and are so excited to continue to grow here in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Our family has been blessed with three children; our son, Siegfried and two daughters, Wilhelmina and Lorelei. We love going to see movies, working in our garden, and trying new foods.

    It is my mission that my students see themselves as scholars; able to confidently make informed choices in whatever life sends their way. Each child has been given hidden gifts and it is my job to help them unearth those secrets. I know that I can not do this without the help and support of my families. Through communication, academic challenges, encouragement, support and fun; we will help our kiddos grow.   

    I can not wait to begin learning all about my kiddos and their families. Together we will make this year great!
