This is a great site that tells all about the basics. There is also a free Chess for Kids app you can download:)I've had lots of request for fun outdoor activites! These scavenger hunts are GREAT! I just pull them up on my phone and screen shot them for my daughter.The Tuscaloosa County 4-H page has got some good things too. They have recently released their Virtual Progam Schedule!This has LOTS of great things, but I really liked the Financial Literacy for Kids! We didn't get a chance to do our Money unit this year, but if you are still interested, this is a great resource! -

Posted by Lori White on 4/15/2020I hope everyone is doing ok out there! I miss all of my students SO much! I will be updating our GATE resources several times during the next few weeks. I want to be sure you have access to what I've shared so far.
On Thursday March 26th, I sent these links through email to parents who requested it. If we would have gone back to school, these are the things we would have been working on that following week.
Balance Lesson: Ecosystems/BiomesYou can log into BrainPop and watch the movie/do the quiz on Ecosystems, plus a TON of other activities that we don't usually get to do in the classroom. There is free access to Brainpop during school closings. YAY! The kids know Mrs. White LOVES some Brainpop! You will have to make a family account, but it's easy:)Biomes:If worksheets are your thing and you just want to go nuts, here are some ideas divided by different Biomes:)Book Club Lesson: CourageWatch this really cute video on Courage!The activity that we were going to do in class with this involved getting up in front of the class and giving a 1 minute speech! Some classes had already started with this lesson.Interest Unit: CSIThere are a MILLION things to do on here! It says it's for middle school, but GATE activities are often several grade levels above. Please be sure that you scroll past the Google Ads and find the start of the page that says "Forensic Science Starters".Logic Time:If you are looking for some logic puzzles, I suggest getting on Teacher Pay Teacher and search for logic puzzles or brain teasers by grade level and free. The search options are on the left hand side of the screen. It can be a little bit overwhelming, but I usually just put a check by the specific grade level that I want, then scroll down and choose "free" under price and search. Lots of things will come up! -
