Westwood Elementary School

Hi, I am Amy Clark and I am a 1st grade teacher here at Westwood. I feel so blessed to be working in such a wonderful and supportive community. I am beginning my sixteenth year in the classroom. I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach a variety of grade levels, ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade. I have also served as an Instructional Coach. My first love is being a classroom teacher. I am truly passionate about teaching and learning. I strive to create a positive classroom community where students feel safe, celebrated, challenged, and loved. I encourage my students to try new things, make new friends, stand up for what’s right, and have lots of fun learning!

I graduated from the University of Alabama with an Educational Specialist’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Master's degree in Elementary Education. I am National Board Certified in literacy, and I consider myself a lifelong learner. I love watching my students develop a love for reading and an eagerness to pursue knowledge in other academic areas.

My husband {John} and I have three spunky, little girls {Mary Camden, Sadie, & Berkley}. A few of my favorite hobbies include: spending time with family and friends, following Alabama football, traveling, and relaxing with a good book.
