ALABAMA ACDA Young Voices Festival

What is this event?
The Alabama ACDA Young Voices Festival is a two-day event culminating in a concert. This is a unique opportunity for 4th-10th grade public school, homeschool, community, and church choir students in the state of Alabama. The Young Voices Festival offers choral students with outstanding ability and initiative a supportive opportunity to perform a variety of choral literature under the direction of nationally recognized music educators.
Who should audition?
Any 9th or 10th grade choral student with director approval (students with excessive absences or discipline referrals will not be approved). Students who enjoy learning challenging choral literature will especially enjoy this experience.
What do I have to do to audition?
Students will learn 5 to 7 pieces of choral music (on their own time). Students will audition on their voice part in front of an adjudicator.
When is it?
Auditions are usually held in February. The festival is usually held in April. See this year’s paperwork for specific dates.
How much does it cost?
- To audition, you pay $10-15 (see this year’s paperwork).
- If you are selected for All-State, an additional amount (usually $50) will be due closer to the time of the festival.
What does the audition fee cover?
- Music Packet
- School and Individual audition fee
- Rehearsal tracks
What does the additional cost cover?
- Festival Registration cost
- Travel to and from the festival
What do I need to do in order to be able to audition?
- Obtain director approval
- Fill out the permission form
- Return permission form by the deadline
- After these steps are completed, we will provide you with a music packet and rehearsal tracks.
