Lolly is the school facility dog at Echols Middle School. She began working at Echols in May 2021. Lolly was trained by Service Dogs of Alabama for three years before coming to Echols.
She is trained in techniques that disrupt negative patterns and also provide: trauma intervention, emotional distraction, mediation, support, and directed tasks. Her presence will naturally provide motivation to participate, relieve test anxiety, increase focus, create an inclusive and safe space, and calm a potentially explosive situation.
Lolly's guardian is one of our counselors, Mrs. Pinkleton. Lolly enjoys visiting students during classroom lessons and library times.
