Coach Suttles and his wife,
Stephanie, have two children, Jordan (13) and Brooksie (11). He
is starting his 19th year of coaching, which started at Akron High School
and then Holy Spirit High School. He is beginning his 12th year
at Hillcrest High School. Coach Suttles' career record
is 489-154.
In eleven years at
Hillcrest, he has won 7 Area Championships. In 2007-8
he led his team to a 35-3 record and clinched the 6A State
Championship title. In 2010-11, his Hillcrest
team went 32-3 and again claimed the 6A State
Championship. In two seasons (2009-10 & 1010-11) at
Hillcrest, the Patriots’ record was 59-8. After winning
the 2011 6A State Championship, Coach Suttles was asked to be the head coach of
the Alabama All-Stars in the annual Alabama-Mississippi All Star Game.
During the 2011-12 season
after a 1-4 start his Hillcrest team went on a 17-game winning streak, reached
the "sweet sixteen" (losing by one point to the
state runner-up), and finished the season 24-7.
