Englewood Elementary School's original building was built in 1958, with an addition in 1997 and 2001 due to an increase in population in the Hillcrest/Taylorville area. The school divided into two schools in 2001 because of overpopulation. Taylorville Primary began serving the kindergarten, first, and second graders, while Englewood served the third, fourth, and fifth graders. Englewood's growth has continued over the years, and we currently serve approximately 600 students each year.
Englewood has only had six Principals to date, with the first being Mary C. Spiller. Molly Allen served after Mrs. Spiller, followed by Tommy Woods, Steve Lamon, Jo Ann Bassett, and Darrell Williams. Our current Principal is Tameka Shamery Rice please see her biography page for more information on Dr. Rice.
